why do trees form a perimeter around a meadow ??

meadows or parks have no trees in the middle rather theres a pond or not. what stops them from spreading on..

People. They are usually either planted that way or the trees are cut down.

If your talking farming its because the tree stop the wind from blowing the dirt away...uncovering the seeds etc..
