Take that collar off! i've got tried flea collars some circumstances, and not at all did no longer see a reaction such as you describe. And purely some months in the past, an editorial became printed approximately how flea collars try this to cats lots. To which i ought to purely think of, "Yeah, perfect Sherlock. Took you long adequate to parent that out!" If the rash would not flow away in a hurry, take her to the vet for scientific care. she will't be gentle. If fleas are a issue the place you reside, deal including your place with borax and use a repellent like Revolution or front Line: those products are very useful, and intensely risk-free till the kitty has allergic reactions. good luck!

You should get the stuff from the vet that kills the fleas. Another poster is right, the OTC stuff doesn't work. You have to make sure to treat your house as well. That includes washing EVERYTHING the cat was in contact with. Make sure you spray any carpeted areas thoroughly. If you can't wash something, put in it a plastic bag.
Your first step is to vacuum vacuum vacuum! Vacuum your entire house paying particular attention to holes for the larvae. They love to hide in dark places, under furniture, beds, pet beds, rugs. Put the nozzle attachment on your vacuum cleaner and thoroughly vacuum around all skirting boards and edges of fixtures.

Try to keep in mind that you are vacuuming up flea eggs, flea larvae and flea pupae. You can’t see them but they are there. It is important to vacuum up the pupae because they are not affected by insecticides.

Vacuuming causes vibrations which stimulates pupae to emerge and thus be vacuumed up.

When you have finished vacuuming dispose of the vacuum bag completely if you have disposable bags in your cleaner. I have heard that people will put a flea collar in the vacuum bag to make sure they're dead.

Remember only about 5% of all the fleas are on the animal, so, make sure you take care of the rest of them. Do it on the same day you treat your cat, or they'll just get reinfested.

Good Luck, it's a horrible job!!

The BEST thing i can suggest, is go to your VET (bring your cat in to weight)

The reason is Frontline plus, Advantage, or REVOLUTION will help your cat in a greater scale. When my cat had fleas, ear mites, etc, I brought my cat in the VET and put Revolution on him. Within 3 days, all stages of fleas are killed and ear mites are clearing up from his ears. The application last between 4 to 5 weeks.

ALL the Over-The-Counter (OTC) treatment does not WORK because fleas will still be attacking your pet even after bathing. Do not use OTC they are known to be toxic to cats.

Capstar will kill them off the cat within 30 min. You have to get it from the vet and it only takes one tablet. Then follow up with Advantage or Frontline. I can't decide which is better myself. I've used both. As far as the carpet and floors, when my b-i-l exterminated our house, he added something call Demon to the insecticide that killed any fleas (and other bugs) that hatched out for months and months and months, but you have to be careful about what you use around the cats so research for safety concerns.

the best thing to do is take him to the vet where he,ll give him an injection and drops which will get rid of the fleas also you should wash cat bedding and anything cat sleeps on and hoover everyday because when he scratches the flea eggs drop into carpet and will eventually hatch into more fleas

My dad used Front Line by Hartz on me and my sister. That stuff works great and I have been flea free ever since.
He also went to the hardware store and got some stuff to spray in the yard so I won't get fleas again! Yippie!!!!

Have a great day and give a hello meow to your cat from me, Figaro, and my sister Rosina.

Bathe it is skin-so-soft from avaon. The fleas hate this and will not stay on him. Also clean your house/apartment. Go take the cat & yourself to a cheap moptel for 24 hours as you bug bomb your living space. When you get back- reclean it again.
This should work.

Front line gets rid of the fleas and their eggs.

I also used a flea comb on my cats...have a pail of dishwater handy, brush them and then dip the comb that should have fleas stuck in the teeth, into the water. It'll kill the fleas almost immediately.

Put a flea collar on it. The DO work. They only live 24 hours on us humans so rubbing alcohol will help if YOU get bit. Keep your bedroom doors shut. Try to isolate kitty for a few days. You have to be careful about using powders on cats because they constantly lick themselves and could become very ill. Call your local Humane Society, as they can be very helpful without costing anything near private vets.

You need to use a good quality flea product. Advantage, Frontline etc. You can get this from your vet or your local low cost clinic. Good Luck KG

P.S. Please don't use the OTC flea products, they don't work and can cause serious health problems to your cat.
