no, I hate jack. He is mean to me. That's why I broke his nose last month.

I have experience from the other direction. I hit a horse with a car that ran into the road directly in front of me. I only had time to weave to the center line before he struck. He rolled over the top of my car crushing it down on me. His suffering did not last long; he was gone before the responding officer arrived. Throughout my career, I destroyed hundreds of deer that were struck by cars but not killed outright. When their spinal column is broken, I doubt there is much pain. I only saw one survive like that that I had to put down. Mostly it is panic to flee. Black Bu's post above probably still brought a change in her blood pressure as these life and death situations never go away. I also hope that the driver and passengers did not get injured in the accident with your brother's horse. One thing that experience has taught me is that everytime I haul a horse I take an appropriate weapon to destroy it in an emergency. When an accident of this magnitude happens, I don't want to wait for a vet to come to the scene; I want to do the right thing right now. I am glad that most of the youngsters are not up now because they would not understand this. When I hit that horse and sheered off legs, or when Black Bu's horse was shattered, you know there is no option for survival and I will do what is needed through my tears. Some people can't, and that's fine. It's just something that we had to do once and it warranted letting other adults think about it. This is a tough and emotional time for you. Besides losing your horses, there may be a lawsuit and your family may be in for some rough going. So we will say those prayers.
