Unless you eat oil or million year old mammoth burgers the carbon you produce is not fossil carbon and does not contribute to the excess CO2 we are adding by digging up oil and burning it. In a natural state of things the carbon you emit would be more or less balanced by plants taking it up, then being eaten by you again...etc...so there is no net change in carbon in the air. So it is not possible to justify taxing it.
Methane might be an issue, seeing as though bacteria produce that in your gut and plants don't take it up, but it doesn't last as long in the atmosphere (12 yrs compared to ~300 for CO2) and (hard as it might be to believe for some people) on a global scale it is a very tiny amount by comparison to the CO2 we emit through fossil fuels.

Yes, we do. Taxing it seems unlikely although it might be good to have it as an extra fine to slap on heavy breathing perverts.

If anything, I'd be more concerned about a fart tax - methane is a much more potent greenhouse gas than carbon dioxide. Let's wait and see if the price of beans goes up!

You do. Howvever, I suggest the following: BP have a CO2 neutral scheme on their website that one can sign up to. It is largely meant for cars, but I reckon for under 1 pound you can pre-emptively neutralise your own personal greenhouse gas emissions (caused by breathing, etc) for a year. Make sure you keep the receipt to show the inland revenue in case they audit you one day.

i think that would kill the GOPs.

in england i think they had and air or head tax they wanted to push.. and that didn't go over well at all.. there was some chaos about it..

then it was dropped...

i'm unsure what happened afterwards... since that would be national news for us... and the brits that i know haven't talked of that since.

:D
