Take a piece of graph paper and map out the area on the graph sheet with dimensions of the room...measure the pieces you'd consider (cut out furniture dimemsion pieces from a sep. sheet of paper) and set them into the diagram if you have the spacing as a concern...if it is the comfort and closeness of people to you when using the seating..think hard and long...you'll live with the furniture for a while unless you are wealthy enough to go out and buy again.

I really dont like the L shaped sectionals, I would go with the 2 chairs and 2 and 3 seat sofas.

I like the idea of 2 chairs and a small 3 seat sofa, you can also get a ottoman that is also a table. I have seen them and they look modern. When you need an extra place to seat someone it is there.

I'd opt for the sectional, I'm getting a new house soon also and am buying one in a neutral color, many sectionals come apart and also can have up to 3 recliners! They really aren't very clunky, actually on the contrary are very stylish, just get the right color and you'll be in hogs heaven on this couch, happy shopping!

I think sectionals are very 80's. If you have a modern home go with some more modern furniture with straighter lines. If you try to go against the style of the house it may start to look a little tacky.

Sectionals can be very nice if you plan to keep your furniture in that one spot. If you think you might want to move the furniture around later, I'd probably go with the two sofas.

i love a sectional cause i like the option of laying down when i watch tv and so does my husband. we can both stretch out on my small sectional or if i have company 5 people can comfortably sit on it- it offers the most seating space for my small family room which is where we watch tv.

Sectionals are very comfy, but can look clunky. I prefer the ones with the chaise loungers on one end. They seem to look more sophisticated.
