everyone is complaining and whining about illegal immigration but no one seems to come up with real immigration reforms. Anyone with an iota of common sense know that mass deportation(antil illegal) or full amnesty (pro illegal)is not the way to go. Why cant we meet somewhere in the middle and come up with a solution that will be beneficial to both sides? A win-win situation. Lets say for example:every illegal must pay fines and back taxes, be registered & go thru background check and NOT become a public burden i.e. collect welfare & other gov't aid for 5 yrs (special exemptions can always be made in dire situations); will not be eligible for certain benefits if they haven't paid into the system;criminals will automatically be deported;must show financial capacity to sustain themselves for the first 3 yrs of conditional residency;make english the official language; Not eligible for social security benefits unless show proof of continuous work for 10 yrs as legal resident...

after 5 yrs of conditional residency if they are model citizens with only minor traffic violations be given a 10 yr permanent residency with ability to become citizen after 5 yrs of permanent residency; this would mean ability to gain citizenship after 15 yrs of total residency; punish employer who employ illegals;give whistle blowers an incentive for reporting illegal hiring; hire more border patrol agents and finish building Bush's fence;

if illegals really want a chance at legal status, they will jump at this opportunity, either way we will know exactly how many illegals we have in the country and we can control the influx of illegals thereafter....there would be a cutoff date as to when they can get registered and be "visible" in the US. failure to report will result in automatic deportation and make it a felony thereafter. hence the pro illegals cant complain we didnt give them a chance. With the increase of immigrant applicants becuz of illegals, the DHS & ICE can hire more people and make more jobs available for americans; funding will come in the form of back taxes and fines paid by the illegals...also think about the aging baby boomers…we need more and more working people to sustain and support the older Americans. Deporting all will cost us Americans billions and allowing full amnesty the same. Lets meet somewhere in the middle..what do you say???

No - You don't reward a dog if it bites you.
You don't reward illegal activity either.
They all had the option to try and apply, Instead they come illegaly now they've all blown that chance.
There's already laws that are meant to be abided by re: Illegal immigration, they're not respected at all.

I agree with you somewhat. We do need to meet in the middle.
There was a question posed in this forum yesterday regarding a woman in her 30's who was brought here as a child illegally by her parents. She is now married with children of her own who are American citizens and in high school. She is now facing deportation because she was found "illegal" after a traffic violation. To me is just common sense that this woman needs anmesty. She doesn't know any other life than here and has been a contributing member of this society for over 20 years. I don't necessarily feel the same about the illegal who just got here yesterday.
A widely believed myth about illegals is that they don't pay taxes and that none of them have a "real" SSN or tax id#. This is simply untrue. I know many who have paid for years into our tax system without any hope of ever getting anything out of it. Should they get amnesty? To me, that's a no-brainer. Of course they should.
A lot of people choose to see this issue as black or white. It's just not that simple. You are talking about real people's real lives. There's a lot to be lost and gained from both sides of the fence (no pun intended). I think most people never stop to consider the damage that would be done to our country today economically and otherwise if all illegals were sent home. They contribute not only in taxes that is basically "free money" for our government but they buy homes and cars and clothes and "things" here. They contribute to the ecomony in the same ways we do.
I think you are well on the right track to solving this issue. I like your ideas and I appreciate the compassion you show for the illegals. Ideas are so much better received when given out of real concern rather than hate and prejudice. Thank you.

What planet are you from? Why do you feel we need to compromise? Let me break into your house and steal all of your stuff. In exchange for not prosecuting me I'll give 1/2 your stuff back OK? Yes Diane Feinstein wants to fine them $2,000.00 and make them pay back taxes. They probably paid a coyote more than that to get here. How are you going to prove how much tax they owe? Do you have any idea how much it costs the American taxpayer to feed, medicate, and educate anchor babies? I have paid into Social Security/ Medicare all of my life and Congress wants to give it to illegals. they are telling me that I will have to buy a supplemental policy to cover my medical needs when I retire. Since when has the government ever lived up to the bargains it has made? We granted amnesty over 20 years ago. That was supposed to end illegal immigration. As everyone is fully aware, that amnesty only opened the flood gates and the government didn't follow through.
Anyone with an iota of common sense will tell you that mass deportation, whether voluntary or forced, is the way to go. You do not reward illegal behavior by "compromising"

I think what it boils down to is that there's been some extremely well-paid people that just plain haven't been doing their jobs...no public accountability, no public transparency, and that creates a great 'happy place' to sit and pretend you're fixing a problem, while gettin' paid...in a word, corruption. To reform immigration,
OR anything else, as far as that goes, you gotta get rid of the people that've sat on their fat butts and done little or nothing about the entire thing all these years... the USA didn't end up 8 trillion in the red by sheer accident...
As far as the fence goes, they need to draw up where it's going to go(done), get the builders to plan it out, and get it built. Enforcement and deterrence, before negotiating about amnesty/clemency on illegal immigration...and, don't forget the US/Canada border, while we're at it...after it's been proven they can really really stop people from entering illegally at will, and the employer enforcement angle's been duly considered and implemented, because there'd be no illegal immigration without a job waiting, then and only then start talking about what to do...

I don't like what you are suggesting but I would say, knowing the nandy pandy reps we have in our government, it is probubly going to be somehow as you suggest.
I don't believe anyone should be REWARDED for breaking the law and that is what that is doing. It sets a bad precedent.
But in honesty, the American system is broken big time in many different ways and this illegal immigration problem is just one of the larger holes in the dike.
It may not be as feasable as what you suggest, but I believe illegals should be made to leave the country and then apply to recieve citizenship. If they do this, they will be allowed into the USA legally at some point. To allow them to stay until they are here 15 years before they are citizens, just gives them more time to not learn English, continue to screw up our economic and welfare aspects and basically scew our political system to their advantage, and against ours.
Consider that you have just been invaded by an enemy state. That state has so overwhelmed your own country that the only smart thing to do to avoid bloodshed or more extreme loss and conflict is to negotiate with the advasaries in your country and allow them to continue to speak their own languages, give them/assure them work and allow them to have children and bring in their inlaws (much would still be done illegally) and in essence to take over control/to conquer your own country.
That is in essence what I believe your suggestion is contracting for.
I like your approach and it does make sense on an orderly solution but it continues to compromise USA values and degrades our system yet more.
If such a solution is put into effect, I rather suspect I will leave the United States and find a more conservative country to live in ...one that actually defends it's borders and values and protects it's citizens against invasion by foreign sources.
I have no problem with legal immigration what so ever. But it must be orderly and legally done by those put in charge ofimplementing such work, by law.

it rather is by the fact no one needs any rules, incredibly!!! that is not significant what you like and that is not significant what i choose! the foremost's that people who've the money desire them so as that they might pay them serf wages! you rather think of a rich Republican who owns a huge business enterprise that makes use of illegals incredibly need that practice to offer up! Then they lose funds! i'm shocked why those on the terrific blame Democrats for this venture! that is been happening when you consider that we've been here! it is going to not supply up each time quickly, no rely how a lot funds the Republicans throw at it! they desire to construct a no-bid settlement fence or wall! I wager each and every of the sub-contractors use illegals to construct it! there are maximum of illegals appropriate now they might can charge hundreds of employers. Passing a regulation does not mean they're going to enforce it! There already is one!!

Why should we negotiate with illegal alien criminals - we don't negotiate with any other terrorist! The solution is truly very simple...strictly enforce our immigration laws using local, state & federal representatives. Cut off all social services to illegals. Heavily fine businesses & people that hire illegals, mandatory jail for 2nd offense.

nope nothing to negotiate
it will cost less to deport them than it is keep them
most will leave on there own as soon as they know they will be arrested and kept in prison a year then deported .
with a felony record and never allowed to reenter
