A thyristor only conducts when its firing angle is triggered. therefore if you measure across its terminals before triggering the firing angle you should get a voltage. Now apply the firing angle that should allow the thyristor to act like a diode and measure across the terminals again. You should get 0V or very close to 0V if it conducted.

I think you asked is Transistor. If you a digital Multimeter, there is a slot named PnP & NpN, take the transistor insert, if the display shows +ve numbers ex 8945, it is PnP, if same shows -5676 like that it is NpN. The transistor should show some resistance and showing conductivity, if it is adsent, the transistor is open., throw it into bin.
