Lack of self love. Many kids are growing up without both parents being there. Often both parents work full time jobs, and don't have a lot of time to be with family. There is neglect and in some cases physical or sexual abuse in homes. But when everyone in the family are off in different directions all day, family gets separated. Lots of kids lose sense of security early on because of these things. That's why there is a wide spread drug problem in our society. Anything goes when there are drugs involved. So this could be a big factor as to why you see an increase abuse even among the teens.

For me I've seen many teens girls being abuse and it's because their male b/f wants to keep that person under his command, control their every move, lack of parenting in their case or guides.Maybe they boys as well as girls grow up in a environment where their father beats their mother and to them it's OK that's how people love or violets solves their problems.
