Acts 1:9 And when he had said these things, as they were looking on, he was lifted up, and a "cloud" took him out of their sight. 10 And while they were gazing into heaven as he went, behold, two men stood by them in white robes, 11 and said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into heaven? "This Jesus," who was taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you saw him go into heaven.”
He went up into the sky (or heaven) in his fleshly body, he will return in his now almost 2,000 year old fleashly body. Not in lightning or thunder, nor will trumpets blow, he will just desend from a "cloud." Jesus did'nt rise from his three day grave and become a spirit he was a man with flesh, Thomas knew it for certain.

Actually, he WILL come back as they saw Him go in bodily fashion to the SAME PLACE HE LEFT FROM. (The Mount of Olives) His body was glorified when He arose, as ours will be when we face judgment for "corruption cannot put on incorruption" as the Scripture says. He will return in His GLORIFIED body to the Mount of Olives. Also, the Scripture references His return being accommodated by "a shout", so it's not going to be some solemn, quiet event. I can almost imagine the sonic boom from the sound barrier cracking as the saints are raptured "in a moment, in a twinkling of an eye" after Jesus descends "with a shout"!

He will come back the same way he went UP....Just as the verse you gave above Acts 1:11

He went into heaven in his spirit body. Actually we all discard the physical/material body in death as decay begins immediately. The spirit lives on eternally.
