Global warming is also happening on Mars. I wonder how the liberals try to blame humanity for that.

Global warming is a reality. Ocean levels are rising, polar ice caps are melting and their is evidence of a temperature change if you look at the average of the temperatures rather than record highs and lows. Plants do require co2 but there are a lot less plants around to convert that co2 into oxygen than there was 100 years ago yet we are also producing a lot more co2 and all that excess co2 has nowhere to go and remains in the atmosphere. It has been found that 1 molecule of co2 takes approximately 100 years to fully recycle back into the environment. Also co2 is not the only greenhouse gas we produce. Others include chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) and methane (which is more efficient at trapping heat and takes even longer than co2 to be recycled).
As for a Clean Air Tax, I don't think it would actually help and it would end up being just a money grab and might also make people think that there isn't a problem and could make things even worse.

Global warming is a hobby horse for some scientists and politicians and for many ecologists and their camp followers. However, many eminent scientist disagree with the theory. Not least because whilst warming is apparrent in some areas others are in fact getting colder leading some scientists to suggest a new ice age is just as likely.
The same amount of rain falls but in different places. This causes floods in some areas and droughts and famine in others.
What most thinking scientists, politicians and ecologists now refer to is 'Climate Change'. Everyone can agree that is happening.
Everyone is in agreement that there is a need to cut back on greenhouse gas emmissions and to find alternative fuels.
But don't ignore the problem - it could yet have catastrophic results that few have yet to contemplate.
As hurricane Katrina rumbled towards New Orleans, a seismic hum more than 1,000 times the strength of the average volcanic tremor was felt nearly 3000 kilometres away in southern California. That is more than enough to threaten the stability of earthquake zones. Also hurricanes become far more likely with climate change.
Another observed effect of climate change is the changing patterns and courses of tidal streams, air currents and weather patterns all suggesting that places that are warm now could in some parts get even hotter and drier as is happening in Somalia and Ethiopia. Corrspondingly other parts could get very cold and the continent of North America is a good candidate.
Whilst taxing some high polluting energy use would probably be helpfull it would only work if corresponding reductions in tax were made to the far less polluting alternatives. Any revenue gained from green taxation must all go into the effort to exert some control on climate change because if it does not it simply will not work with everyone as you point out, seeing it as just another money grabbing tax.

In the dreadful winter 1962/63 we were told that we were entering another ice age. In 1970 we were told that the oil would run out completely within 15 or 20 years. Both were the forecasts of scientists, both predictions failed to come true.
Global warming might indeed be happening - but cyclical variations in the earth's climate have been happening for as long as the earth has been in existence. Even today's major report is hedged around by the equivalents of 'perhaps' and 'maybe'. And where are the voices of those scientists and climatologists who can put forward equally cogent arguments against global warming? Why are they never given media coverage? The scientist who discovered the hole in the ozone layer a few years ago (about which much government and media panic), now says it is closing rapidly - but the media gives him little publicity.
I think Brits will get very annoyed is they are taxed on a wide variety of activities while the USA, India, China and Russia continue to pollute as heavily as they do and yet suffer no penalties. The UK, as a first world country, produces around 2 percent of the world's carbon emission, so assuming we can cut that back to, say, 1.5 percent (after all, the country has to continue to function!) the reduction is insignificant - and our lives will be made more fraught and miserable for damn all gain!
Why are we governed by overpaid imbeciles who simply refuse to see that fact? The only answer must be that 'global warming' is seen as a way of 'psuedo legitimising' the imposition of yet more taxes on the poor Brits. (Who are about to get even poorer, by the look of things!)
I suppose it's the same government mindset that makes the UK follow EU rules, while the rest of the EU countries raise two fingers at the regulations when it suits them.
It's time for a revolution!

The global warming weanies claim that global warming will cause more hurricanes and cited last years hurricane season as absolute proof of global warming. So you would expect this years hurricane season to be even better. But, surprise surprise, only 5 hurricanes this year, none of which crossed the US coast as hurricanes. What does this now mean, that we are about to be plunged into the next ice age. Get a grip people. Its just a big money making scam by the laywers who run greenpeace and co.

Please don't mix libs with teh government. It's your liberal buddies trying to apply this tax.. The Earth has warming and cooling cycles. I believe it's in a warming cycle and NOTHING any tiny little human can do will change that. .. Don;t take that as I think we should stop trashing and producing smog and stuf... but we can;t stop global warming no more than we can change the tides...

I think it is a bunch of crap. You are right. When I watch the weather I often wonder how the hottest days could have been in 1912. Did we have global warming back then? You made my day to see some one feels the same as me. Thanks!
