They are 16 and 17, and as a much older sibling, I am just not down with the kids. So any 16-17 year old boys out there, or those who know them - please let me know what you would go for???

Just depends how much you are willing to spend. My older son is working full time, and he will buy his brothers CD's or DVD's. He has bought his sister aged 8, Bratz dolls. If you are looking to spend a bit more. What about an Mp3 player, or a pair of trainers. My 16 year old always wants trainers. Hope that helps.

Look in the argos catalogue for some ideas but dont just get the first thing you see. Have a poke around with them or a couple of their mates and find out if they have been wanting something. Talk to your mum as she might be buying them the same thing. Don't get them something for them to share make it something each. What about some nike trainers or a helly hansen coat or berghaus they are really popular makes in the north east. Good luck

Try looking at the Firebox website and The Doghouse website. I've used both on several occasions. Firebox is even fun to phone because if you're put on hold you're encourage to do a workout while you're waiting! They have loads of really unusual and fun stuff. I'm sure you'll find something. Good luck from an 18 year old son's mother.

It really really depends on what sort of person they are.

Some teenage boys enjoy books (no it's true!). If they do, they might like some books from the Discworld series by Terry Pratchett.

Vouchers for clothes shops like Topman, Burton etc. should go down OK.

As people have said: if they haven't already got them, they'll probably love ipods or mp3 players.

TV? Computer? Upgrades for thier computer?

If you want to be useful it's probably got to be book tokens or HMV tokens, but if you want to be remembered then get something off the wall, like a framed impressionist print or a set of poker dice in a nice leather pouch. But don't spend too much, they're your brothers, for goodness' sake!

So pleased to know that you are "not down with the kids", this is a criminal offence. Can they read/ do they read/do they have any hobbies/sports interests? The problem with buying gifts is - you need to know your customer. Clothing is safe/ Levis/ sweatshirts; look at what they are wearing and `copy` that.

If you've got £90 for each of them... an iPod nano is the thing to get, if they haven't got them already. http://www.apple.com/ipodnano/
Loads of funky remote controlled toys out there that boys of all ages love.
Or what about an event like tickets to a gig for a band they like?
Or a day out quad biking or paintballing or go-karting.
Have fun shopping.
