Yes, wait. When I was sixteen I thought I would punch the next person who told me I was too young to get a tattoo. I thought I was beyond ready for one. But I waited until I was eighteen, (which is the legal age in many states,) And now I appreciate my tattoos so much more.
However, use these two years to your advantage. Do you know what you want? Great. Then get a picture of it and put it right next to your bed. That way you will see it every day until you're of legal age to get one. Once the time has come, ask yourself if you still think you could love it every day for the rest of your life. If you answered yes, congratulations, your ready for a tattoo. Make an appointment and hop into that chair!
If not, you're obviously not prepared enough to get one. Be positive it isn't something you'll regret, because once it's there, it's not going anywhere ever again.
Many states have their legal age set because they know young people change their mind many, many times - and don't want them stuck with a band or a significant other's name tattooed on their butt. Many times, specific shops also have age limits set for the same reason, or because they don't want to be sued by parents.
Know your stuff! Get educated about parlors, tattoo styles, (tribal, old school, new school, portrait, etc.), and be original! Don't get a kanji that says "Love" just because you think it's pretty. Everyone and their dog has a tattoo like that. make sure it's one of a kind and that it is meaningful to YOU.

Wait until you are 18. It's too much of a pain in the butt to find a place that will ink a minor. When you can go into any place anytime you want and get whatever you want it is a lot more fun. I am 25 and have been getting tattooed since my 18th B-Day. It's great getting out of bed and deciding that I am going to go get a new tattoo. I've never had to ask my parents for permission, or lie about my age, or go to a shady parlor that will illegally tattoo minors. The easier the whole process is the happier you will be with the final result. 2 years isn't that long to wait.

Wait until you are at least 18. Spend some time between now and then researching what tattoo you really want. It is best to design your own rather than pick it out of a book.... That way it is more personal to you and you are pretty much guaranteed to be the only one who has it! I think you should wait until 18 because you will probably change your mind and your taste by then and you don't want to permanently put anything on your body that you aren't absolutely going to love for the rest of your life!

Why are you asking why you should wait? The decision is completely up to you. It is your skin and it is up to you to decide when, where, and what goes on your skin. Obviously, you are an attention seeker and always in need of approval, otherwise you would already have a tattoo and wouldn't care what people thought. You are a follower and seem to seek approval in your ideas and thoughts. You really should just get the biggest, most attention getting tattoo and place it in the most conspicuous place (like on a forearm and extending under the sleeve and onto the shoulder) and see how cool your friends will think you are for taking the initiative and not asking for their permission to get a tattoo.

Get your parents permission. Choose something small and put it in a place that won't be seen on a daily basis. Lower stomach, lower back, etc. You will be able to show it off in a swimsuit but still wear a strapless fromal dress and not have tattoos sticking out. Don't get any names or sybols for a relationship you may be having either with a boyfriend or friends. Choose something that is just you so later it doesn't associate with a negative thought. I got my 1st at 16- it is a little shooting star with a gemini symbol under it- on the lower left side of my stomach.

In Wisconsin it is against the law to get a tattoo before 18. you are too young. A tattoo is permanent and future employers might not want to hire you if you serve the public and it is in a visible area. I think you should wait until you are older because if you change your mind after, removing it is expensive, painful and not always possible. I know. I work in a hospital. Also, insurance does not cover cost of tattoo removal.

I think that you should wait at least until you are 18...i know i know....yet another thing to wait for....but as you mature and get older so do your likes and dislikes....for example you may really like pink butterflies right now....but in a few years you could grow out of that! You don't want to regret anything that is THAT permanent...I am sure that you have an idea of what tattoo you want.....if I were you....print out that tattoo and hang it somewhere you will have to look at it everyday....leave it up for at least 6 months....see if you grow tired of it...and if you do then you wont have to live with that mistake....
Hope that i helped!!

Yes, i think you should wait. Most 16 year olds are into fads. You want to decide on something that you wont be embarassed to show to people in 5, 10, 15 years. I was 22 before I got my first tattoo.

Go to the nearest homeless shelter and see if you like some of the tattoos there. Then try to visualize yourself 30 years from now and what the tattoo of your choice will look like to you and to others. Then think about the cost of removing a tattoo from your skin. So, why do you want to get a tattoo? I hope it's not because your friends are getting them! Eventually this fad will go out of style-- think about that!
