During those long cold winter months?

Tip: I hang two heat lamps from the ceiling of the dog house which keeps them nice and warm during the winter. I also use thick carpet as hay would catch fire.

A reminder to start winterizing your pet homes.

I have a really unique idea...how about you bring them into YOUR house? Did you know that a dog who is made to stay outside while the rest of its pack (you) is in the house, believes it is being punished?

Get some Dog clothes ( shoes, sweaters, etc.)
but dogs should really be kept inside at the winter months, it's not safe for them outside in the cold & Snow.

We also use heat lamps and straw. Be sure the dog house is not facing north/northwest - as that is the direction of the coldest wind. It's also a good idea to put a tarp around the kennel to block any wind.

The heat lamps are a good idea if you feel you must leave your dog outside. I don't worry about it, because my dogs come inside when it's cold. If it's too cold for me, it's too cold for them, unless of course they're huskies or a breed like that.

Some unique way to keep this dog warm is to let him go inside the house... you've read that already. I don't think the little boots and pet garments are gonna make any difference... they're just cute, but dogs don't really benefit from them... did you try to stay outdoors when everything is damp, wet and messy due to half-melted snow, rain, mud and wind? I don't think any dog should stay outdoors when their owner has a toastier living room, hot soup and sometimes a cozy fireplace. If you get a dog, you are getting also lots of responsibilities. I don't think heat lamps are the answer... you can't really regulate the temperature inside a small dog house just by adding those lamps. It might get so hot at times. They might involve fire risks too.

My dog doesn't sleep outside. She sleeps under the blankets with me when it's cold.

Do you have a cover for the doggie house door? He should really have a door. You could use and old large floor mat. Just something to block the wind.
