it is really how you feel about the dog a name should come to you a few suggestions for you could be; Shadow, Rufus, Baloo, Todd, Teddy, Aurther, Beast, Bear, Zeus, Merlin, Major, Tubs, Buster, Bubba, Bo, Scooby Doo or any other name that you think would suit him. He does sound lovely. i have 2 dogs and 2 cats dogs are named Major and Tinkerbell (she is a staffodshire bull terrier not a chiuwawa), and the cats are Sullivan, and Tiger.
Good Luck, He'll let you know what his name is.

I got a black lab when I was in high school. I wanted to name it Jake but everyone thought I said Drake. So they continued calling him Drake. I really like Jake though. It sounds like a big friendly dog. Which sums up Labs.

You have plenty of names.
Be aware this breed of dogs, like so many others, can have an early demise due to its back legs.
It is devastating to both dog and minder.
Have a word with your vet and start him off on a diet that will help become a survivor.
Best Wishes.

My lab/whippet cross is called Zak.
There is a dog my local park called Benson.
I have just read a book about a dog called Marley.
I love all those names.
