Here are two recipes for you to choose from:

Tom & Jerry Batter

This beverage goes back to both 1600 Ireland and Merry Ol' England.
Even though it is now served as a holiday drink, it's original usage
was for all winter long. Many a cold winter night was warmed by the
pioneers by sharing mugs of hot Tom & Jerries. This recipe is far
better than the jar of the batter that can be purchased in most liquor
stores. The store version, and this original recipe that I found in a
1851 diary have little in common except that both are served hot. They
don't even taste the same. The recipe is kind of hard but I am sure
you'll find that it is worth the work and you will enjoy it.

12 whole eggs, separated
1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
1 1/2 cups superfine sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons nutmeg
1 cup light rum
2 oz brandy
2 oz rum
hot water (or warm milk can be substituted)

In a mixing bowl, whisk the egg whites until it forms soft peaks. In
another mixing bowl (large), whisk the egg yokes until they become
frothy. Fold the stiff whites into the yokes. Add the baking soda,
sugar, and 1 cup light rum. Whisk it all together to form a stiff
batter.

Place a tablespoon of the batter into a warm beer mug. Add 2 oz
brandy, 2 oz rum, and fill the rest of the mug with hot water. Mix
together well. Top with nutmeg. Serve and enjoy.

***Here is recipe #2

"Tom and Jerry" 1820s Eggnog
No, not the cat and mouse! In fact, they were probably named after this very popular drink! This eggnog comes from a book from the 1820s, written by Pierce Egan. It was called Life of London: or Days and Nights of Jerry Hawthorne and His Elegant Friend Corinthina Tom. What a name, eh? He invented a special eggnog in the book, calling it of course "Tom and Jerry".

I couldn't find any recipe specifically attributed to this book, but this one appears to be its descendant.

3 eggs, separated
3 tbsp. powdered sugar
1/2 tsp ground allspice
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp cloves
Brandy
Dark Rum
Hot milk
Grated nutmeg

Beat egg whites to a stiff froth. Separately beat egg yolks until light in color, gradually add the powdered sugar and spices. Fold yolk mixture into whites. Divide mixture between four 8 oz. mugs. Add 1/2 shot brandy and 1 shot rum to each mug; fill with hot beverage. Stir well and top with nutmeg.

TOM AND JERRY MIX...
Ingredients:
1 3/4 ounce Rum (Preferably Old Mr. Boston Imported Rum)
1/2 ounce Brandy
1 Egg
Baking Soda
Milk (Hot)
Superfine Sugar
Nutmeg

Directions:

First prepare the batter. Using a mixing bowl, separate the yolks and whites of 1 egg, beating each separately and thoroughly. Then combine both, adding enough superfine powdered sugar to stiffen. Add to this 1 pinch of baking soda and 1/4 oz. Old Mr. Boston Imported Rum to preserve the batter. Then add a little more sugar to stiffen.

To Serve: Use hot Tom and Jerry mug. Using 1 tablespoon of above batter, dissolve in 3 tablespoons hot milk. Add 1 1/2 oz. rum. Then fill the mug with hot milk within 1/4 inch of top of mug and stir gently. Then top with 1/2 oz. brandy nd grate a little nutmeg on top.

The Secret of a Tom and Jerry is to have a stiff batter and a warm mug.

I think it must be a west, mid-west thing. I'm from Wyoming and you could always find it in the bakery for the holidays. Ours always had cloves, nutmeg and allspice. Egg whites beaten stiff, sugar folded in then the spices, yolks, and a little vanilla. Seams like we mostly used whiskey as our liquor but I usually see it with rum and brandy. It is a favorite, even better than hot buttered rum. Good luck
