I'm on a diet, sort of. It's very difficult to follow because my husband doesn't seem to understand that being on a diet doesn't mean you change which oil you fry things in. I don't want to have to make two seperate meals for us all the time. Once in a while is fine, but not always. How do I get him to understand that I need more support than this?

I don't currently make two meals, though I might make two sides simply because there's things I like that he doesn't (peas, cooked carrots, and beets for example). It's just that we both love to cook and whenever it's his turn to cook, he has a tendency to like to fry things like homemade hot pockets or potatoes. Yummy as those things are, they are far from my diet yet I can't turn them down. I just want him to consider my diet more carefully when he cooks.

Changing oils won't change the flavor to much. My wife doesn't do any cooking and she want to lose wieght. I cook some things to conform and the meals that I can't live without are friday night meals. you could tell him monday through friday its healthy meals and saturday & sunday night you'll make him anything he wants as long as he knows what he wants by friday morning (you'll have time to make 2 menus) its a fair trade for now and soon, he may end up liking the healthy stuff you're making more and request it for sat and sun. Good luck with your diet.

Many women are in your situation, me as well. My husband can eat anything and not gain an ounce. The solution is to make the meal that you can eat and if He doesn't want to eat it, He can feed himself! There is no time or reason for you to have to make two meals.Besides, most men are too lazy to cook for themselves. So he will end up eating what you make, and be healthier for it too!

Communication is always the key thing. But also let him know how important it is to eat healthy as a family not only just you. Pray with him before you sit and talk about this matter.

let him cook his own dinner if he doesn't like what you make.
he can eat it or make another choice.
he can get mad and go out if he wants.
you also have choices to make. this is a difficult situation.
you cannot make him understand or change.
just change what you do. (stop making two dinners).
he can eat what you make or nothing or do his own thing
(and dont' clean up after him either).

I would sit down and explain it to him. He truly may not know, and he won't know unless you tell him. Ask him for his support. And then explain that you don't want to make two meals every night, so if he doesn't want to eat what you are eating, then he is welcome to make something else. And stick to your guns. He's a big boy, and he won't starve.

Good luck to you!
