becuase that is the only thing people have to go off of when it's first seen. if you see the name - satans lover - would you not generally assume it's someone who's not pro God?! granted we are not to judge a book by the cover, but if covers weren't important why would people spend thousands of dollars on artwork and marketing ploys. how you present yourself if how people see you - their perception is their reality.
BTW - if you're talking about your name - i "read" it as someone who is into Buddah and considers themself a master in the art of zen type spirituality.

Well, I suppose some people think that your nickname is a reflection of your personalities (yes, there are usually more than one =D) or beliefs.
Most, just don't seem to get that they have no meaning behind them whatsoever.
