How many calories should I realistically be eating a day in order to lose weight? I'm (female) 5'4 and currently weigh 56kg although trying to reduce this to 50kg. Over the past couple of months through exercise I've lost about 5kg, by one hour a day on the treadmill and eating about 1200 cals. However I would really like to know how much I should be aiming for? As I seem to have reached a plateau where I'm not losing any more, and am getting demotivated (and reaching for the biscuit jar!) Should I be eating less? I've read you need to eat to lose weight and am getting a bit confused!!

Thanks!

How Many Calorie Should I Eat to Lose Weight
calories per day to lose weight ● calories to lose fat

Hi Editor,

I need to know how many calories should I eat each day to lose weight. Do you have any insight?
Dear Reader,

One pound of fat contains 3500 calories. To lose 1 pound of fat your body needs to burn 3500 extra calories. Consider that the average women burns 1800 to 2000 calories, if mildly active. A moderately active male of average size burns 2000 to 2500 calories.
To lose weight, you need to know how many calories you should eat each day. We recommend that you reduce your overall calorie consumption 25% to 30%. The commons mistake is to skip meals and starve yourself. This plan will backfire, because sooner or later you will binge.

You should eat 3 meals per day with 2 healthy snacks between meals. To lose 1 to 2 pounds each day, a woman should eat 1200 to 1400 calories per day and men should eat 1800 - 2000 calories per day. This way you can lose weight gradually without starving and binging.

well you need a certain amount of calories per day for your body to just do its normal functions, like breathing. So i woudlnt recommend eating just 1000 thats very low. Try to get a little exercise in every day, or 3 times a week at the gym or something, you'll lose weight much faster by eating healthier and working out a little, then just cutting calories. Also if you eat too little, your body will go into starvation mode and you will actually start turning everything your eating directly into fat since your body is storing any food for later cause its not sure when you will eat again. So, eating that little can put you in starvation mode which will actually do the opposite of what you want. Exercise also releases endorphins which make you happy, and who doesnt wanna be happy!?

If you can't lose anymore, it probably means you've reached some kind of stopping point. Everyones bodies are different. Not EVERYONE can have those model skinny bodies the models have. I'm guessing most of those models were (or are!) anorexic. DON'T turn anorexic. If you can't lose anymore, your body has reached a point when you've reached the smallest and/or lightest you can go. Don't feel bad about your weight. No one is perfect.

You might want to eat HEATHLY, like fruits and veggies instead of those biscuits. The veggies and fruits will help lower your body weight, and you might even LOOK a lot skinnier.

I hope I helped!

let me be the first to congratulate you on your starting
your body is adapting....and you might be putting a bit of muscle on your legs also
you have a couple of options at this pointtry a new
(1)If you want to stick to the treadmill try running sprints....what I mean by this is since you do an hour on the treadmill maybe you could walk/light jog for 9 mins then sprint for 1
or even walk for 4 and sprint for 1
theres a bunch of different combinations you could try
sprints will tire you out alot faster though just remember to do it for time not for distance a one minute sprint sounds easy right now but after a couple of intervals you'll feel just how hard it is and as you become better you can up the sprints to 1.5 mins...2 mins until you're finally doing 1 minute sprint-1 minute walk
(2)maybe try and up the incline...if you havent been...you'll find this ups the difficulty
(3)or you could change up your activity....you'll notice some new results

good luck to you

You have tpo take ing less calories than you burn a day. Excercise is the main key to lossing weight. 2000 Calories is the normal calorie intake for a person, but take ion about 1500 for 2 days then take in 2000 the next 2. Every 2 days swich the amount you intake and that will help also.
