What would be an appropriate Christian image to carve into a pumpkin for trunk-or-treat at church? I've found some patterns of Jesus but not sure it would be appropriate to carve into a pumpkin. What do you think?

Trunk-or-treat is where everyone gives out treats from the trunks of their cars in the parking lot of the church. There's also games for the kids to play in the gym. It's just a way for the kids to have fun and be safe on Halloween.

google search " pumpkin patterns" . I did while looking for something for my kids to use this year. There are many sites with unusual templates and i recall seeing a religion section on one of the sites. You just print them and tape them to the pumpkin. Use a needle to poke holes around the pattern. Dot to dot style, remove the template and carve dot to dot. I am sure you will find something. Sorry i dont have a direct link for you

its a pumpkin, carve what you like. technically, anything halloween related shouldnt be with a church, but i'm not religious so i just think its funny. my bf works an "all saints day" concert at a church. they carve all sorts of faces onto the pumpkins. the only thing the church had a problem with was when they carried the organ player onto the stage in a coffin.

they cant call it a halloween show, only and all saints day show. which i think is just stupid, we all know what it really is.

Let me get this straight you want to carve out something that has pagan connections for a church that is supposed to represent Truth in God?

Why not be done with it and put the Christ on a broomstick!

Pagan and true christianity do not mix.

Don't you know what happened when the Israelittes made a golden calf in the wilderness and Moses in a rage come down from the mountain and shattered the two tablets with the ten commandments on when he saw what they were doing? They were mixing paganism with Holy.

Perhaps carve a standard jack-o-lantern face with the exception being the nose: carve out a cross instead of a triangle to use as the nose.

Just a suggestion...

I don't see why it would be a prob to carve jesus in a pumpkin. Friends of mine carve crosses in theirs every year. There should be tons of templates that would work. I know I've seen them doves as well....

I would say no pumpkin with carvings is approriate for church unless it's pumpkin pie. We must undrstand the history of Halloween and the spirit the drives it, we do not want to bring that same spirit into our church, home or children!
In Love and In Him!!! God Bless

Are you serious?

To turn a supposed house of God into a place of detestable things.
It may look like innocent fun but Satan can show himself as the angel of light.

Witches and trick or treat may sound harmless but in God's eyes it is detestable to his sight.
Witches, gouls, and spells and dark magic you really think God approves anyone even for fun delving in such games?

Could you for one moment imagine Jesus ever going to a halloween party?
You might say they didn't have halloween back, maybe maybe not but the principles stand.

if it's this much of a dilemma, i think you shouldn't carve it at all.
just a plain ol' pumpkin.
you can leave it out for Thanksgiving.
now that's a holiday;
let us give thanks for this land we have taken from the inhabitants and celebrate by eating some big wierd looking bird.
good luck.
