Having my bunions operated on was the best thing I ever did. I was in sneakers in 3 weeks following surgery and went to work 3 days later (even though he told me to stay home for 2 weeks) I have a desk job so didn't worry about it. After years of suffering with my bunion I had had it. I was awake during the surgery, he gave me 5 shots in the foot to numb it and I talked to him threw out the surgery. It was a breeze. Having the surgery is not a big deal and you would be so happy that you had it done. I only took pain meds for 1 day. I can now wear any shoe I want and don't have to worry about pain. Please think about having it done, you will be so happy.

I have bunions which can be sore at times but I've no intention of having surgery unless I'm desperate. I make sure I only wear really comfortable shoes - no heels, nothing narrow at the toes. If they get inflamed I take some linseed oil and maybe take an anti-inflammatory like Nurofen for a couple of days. Usually I'm fine again after that. You're right - I've seen people who were worse after bunion surgery than before.

Depends how painful they are. I had one removed years ago. I spent a week in hospital and 6 weeks in plaster but have had no problems at all since. If you just have your left one done you can still drive an automatic car. Good luck. It wasn't a painful op and I expect things are quicker these days.
