yesterday I made a carrot/butternut/sweet potato soup. I used the hand-blender, which is made of white plastic.

the part of the blender which was used in the soup it now has a yellow/orange tinge.

Any ideas how I get it white again, please? I can't really put it in bleach, I assume

Thanks

The colour is carotene which is harmless (in fact it's quite good for you). Leave it alone. It will fade gradually.

Try dabbing a soft cloth with olive oil and rub on the stained area. It will lighten the discoloring without scratching the plastics as much. You might not get it 100% back to being white but other non edible chemicals might ended up getting embeded in the plastic if you scrub hard with it.

Cascade makes a type of DW cleaner that is designed to bleach plastic dishes clean of tomato or squahs stains. It's in a tube and stands up, like a tubeof face scrub or something. The directions call for it to be put in the DW instead of regular detergent for one of the cycles.

You may try getting that and smearing it on your blender, and letting it sit a half-hour or so.

Have you tried Mr Clean Magic Eraser? Also a damp dryer sheet will clean a lot of stuff so you could try it to.

If your really worried about getting it white again soak it for a couple of hours in a mug containing one tbsp bicarbonate of soda filled up with water. Personally though I would just leave it it won't hurt you!!

I always use about a 1/2 teaspoonful of bleach, to my dishwater, and let it soak overnight...In the morning wash with regular washing water, and your dish is as sparkling as just bought! Your dish or jar is also disinfected, too...
