Wicca is not a religion with laity* so it is actually a priesthood within its own rights. [* Wicca is composed of only priests and priestesses] It could class as a religion because they are a group of people with shared beliefs, practices and doctrines, it could also be considered a cult because it is a small religious grouping with a charismatic leader.

It depends on how you classify 'religion' – Wicca themselves would consider it a priesthood, commonly it would be considered a religion, sociologically it would be considered a cult. Legally it is not considered anything.

Religion, in a very general sense, just means belief in a higher power. Wicca falls under that category based on that definition. The word religion has become a bad thing, much like the words Cult, Occult, Esoteric, etc... The meanings of these words change with each speaker... a Christian will frown on the word Occult, but a Pagan knows it's meaning... "hidden".

So, anyone with a belief in a higher power would be considered in a religion... even if they are the only one who believes in that way.

Mr. Satan is silly, funny, and dead wrong.

The first and most important tenant in Wicca is "do no harm" this a broad moral base,, it is also important to remember in Wicca anything you do will come back to you 3 fold, god bad or indifferent,,

So the basic moral base is one of good,,kind of like Karma

One of the primary differences between Wicca and other religions is the Principal of freedom,, according to the bible you either follow gods way or burn in hell forever. In Wicca you are encouraged to follow your own path.
So not all of us feel think or worship in the same way,,and that is accepted and encouraged.

So I guess it depends how you define religion.

Yes, Wicca is a religion. It's even recognized by the federal government and the military.

Yeah, I feel Wicca is a religion, as does the US government (as of 1985).

Yes, I see myself as having a religion. However, I consider my beliefs to be more spiritual than religious.

Wicca isnt a religion...its just an offshoot of the old witchcraft nonsense. They just want to "stick it in the craw" of traditional christian society, by dancing around naked in the moonlight (which in and of itself is probably lots of fun) and other freaky stuff like that. Or by trolling message boards and terrorizing christians.
