Ideas on colour for my room?

Question

i have recently painted my room a dark magnolia/ivory colour, i have one dark red wall, with dark red bedding, carpet and curtains, but i also have brown leather storage boxes, lamp and other various bits, what colour should i paint the wood work, i cant think of what colour would look good. Its black at the moment, but im not sure if i like it.

Either white or a very soft cream color would look great. Your room sounds fantastic!

I personally think black and all of the other dark colors will suck the light from your room; try a nice white against the ivory and use the black for accents. Here is a trick: Find a nice piece of fabric, a throw pillow, an art piece...something with your brown, ivory and red in it and see what other colors are in the piece. You are guaranteed a color match. Actually, you can color scheme any room like this by using something you love and picking out 3 or 4 nice colors from the piece. This is a trick professionals use. Depends on whether you like it dark or not. You could do the paintwork on the wood in either a creamy gloss, or if you are daring (and you sound as if you are) you could try chocolate brown to bring out the lamp and storage boxes. However, if you wanted something completely different you could try deep navy blue, or even a dark green.

paint the wood work the same colour as the main colour in this case ivory. That way the furniture and other accessories are shown off at their best.

The only way to make a room look bigger is to keep most of the largest things in the room the same color. In this case, the two largest items in your room are your walls and your bed. Select a bedspread and a wall color that you love. The room will instantly look larger. Color?? Only you can select a color you like. Go to the paint store and pick up some swatches. When you ask other people about color, they pick the color THEY like. So, think about what you like. If you like nature, pick a neutral color. If you love the beach and water, pick blues and greens. Use white. It gives a nice crisp definition to the walls. I like Duron's Shell White. You will probably need a couple of coats of primer to cover black.

white....go to your local paint store and by their "ultra white high gloss" paint. It will make the wood work really pop, and if you should ever paint the rest of your room again, it will go with anything
