I live in the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex and I need to get my boxer puppy’s ears clipped but I want to use someone who does a really good job, anyone have a referral? Also I need a referral for some puppy dental work if anyone has a referral for that as well. Thanks!

You should ask your boxer's breeder who does their ears. If you didn't get it from a breeder, then your best bet is to call the vets in your area and figure out who CROPS (not clips, make sure you say crop when you call they won't understand clip). After you find out whether they do or not, find out if they specialize in a certain breed cropping, some will only do dobies and danes, others will do boxers and schnauzers. Any vet can do dental work, although I'm not sure why a puppy would need it, their teeth will fall out around 5-6 months old. If the puppy is already getting adult teeth, it is too old to have it's ears cropped.

Dr, Robert Wiggs of Dallas is listed with the Academy of Veterinary Dentists. Vets listed as members of this organization have trained for their field and passed extensive written and practical licensing tests in order to become members.

As for ear cropping, I hope your puppy is under 12 weeks, as cropping must be done before this age. If your vet can't give you a recommendation, talk to people from your local boxer club for referrals to a competent vet. Try checking around any Vet's office and ask them if they have any referrals on some pets they've cropped the ears on.This should answer your question if you contact the referrals and ask if you can view the pet,as some vets don't crop very well.

Call show breeders of cropped breeds in your area, they should be able to give you a recommendation. It is getting hard to find vets that will even do it, let alone one who do a good job (ear cropping is an art). You may have to go out of your area for this. I've known breeders who will drive for several hours for a good cropping vet.

Go to your Vet and ask about clipping your puppies ears. most local vets can do it, just ask around. Dental can also be your vet they may be able to give you some numbers to any dog dentists. And for everyone who thinks this is hurting the puppy it is not. Humans DO THE SAME THING!!!!!

Start by looking in the phone book for a vet, call them and ask questions. Also, talk to local breeders and see who they recommend.

Don't clip their ears unless it needs to be done. I think it is cruel to do that just for looks!
