I am A Christian but I hate to see the traditions..rules..in it.I would rather have a personal relationship with Jesus our Lord and Saviour. With our personal relationship with Him we can be truly called Christians by our acts, words, and thoughts.

It is always necessary to carry some of the "religious" aspects of Christianity with us - not those dogmatic and legalistic rituals that have been added to the inspired pages of the Bible, but rather those practiced ordinances that must be carried out because they are honoring to God - i.e. baptism by immersion and the taking of the Lord's Table.

More to the point on your question, in order to remove the "religious" overtone of Christianity, we have to fill the void (for a lack of a better term) that it leaves among modern Christendom. Of course the Lord Himself never cared much for the religious rites that surrounded Him, instead He was relational. Not many people would disagree with that. We have to take out the dogma (confession, the rosary, traditions) and replace it with relationships among the sinners (the publicans, the drunkards, the gluttons). Christians think that having a church building in the middle of town and forcing outsiders to come in and see the service is completion of the Great Commission and it isn't.

The start of removing religion is to fulfill the commands of Christ: GO and MAKE DISCIPLES and TEACH and BAPTIZE. It starts with going. If someone wants to take religion out of Christianity, it initiates with going out and creating relationships to win people to Christ, not inviting them to church - the church is a local assembly of believers, not a magical device used to convert people. As a Christian, it is my responsibility to go into the world, relate, and show people that there is a true hope through this life.

If you want to take religion out of Christianity, make Christianity about Christ, not the world.

Good Question.. We as Christians need to get real with ourselves and realize that everyone has a past and everyone has issues that we deal with. Too many Christians are stuck on the "rules" of being a christian rather than the relationship that is needed with Jesus Christ.

To answer you question more directly, We need to just start being real with ourselves and everyone around us. Nothing is more repulsive than a fake, holier than thou, Christian who wants eveyone to think he has it all together.

It is "Religion" that is keeping too many people in bondage rather than experiencing the freedom of the relationship with Christ.

John 8:36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.

James 1:26 If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain.

The ONLY way to remove religion from Christianity is to OBEY the Word of God in a literal sense under grace and a spiritual sense under the law and NOT deviate from it! The Scripture clearly teaches that we as individuals don't have the right to add to or take away from the Word because we're not affected by a certain passage or two and etc. Since religion is nothing more than man's view of God, we have done exactly what we shouldn't; having twisted the Word to satisfy our own sense of morality.

I think that a religion called Christianity will continue.

However, if you want to love Jesus Christ, and follow his teachings, then get a red letter Bible, and learn what He is thought to have said. Read about his actions. Build your life around these principles, and pray to God, as Jesus taught, for the grace, wisdom and strength to do this.

No more, no less.

I believe I have a relationship with Jesus, it's not about religion. For me, religion is all about rules. With Jesus, I want to live a life that pleases Him but I know that if I fall short, His grace is still enough.

Christianity is not a religion. It's a relationship with Christ. There is the difference.
