Hijab creates equality among the sexes by eliminating any sexual innuendo. It provides women a chance to co-exist and work with men on a respectable level; it is modest and a banner to the world that you are Muslim. Modesty, in the end tho, is up to the woman and her standard of modest :-) There is no compulsion in religion. peace.

To understand Islam and Quran you need to read the circumstances at the time when it happened.
It is a step for protection against Adultery.
It is mentioned in Quran, not to follow the steps of SATAN, didn't say do not follow the Satan, but the steps.
So, it is a way of protection against Adultery.
Hint: see the crime rate related to sex among western countries and Muslims countries?
Sexually transmitted diseases ?
Isn't good for the community?

For me:
Submission to God
Then
-Modesty
-Because the Qur'an and Sunnah states so.
- In my own way I think the best of Virgin Mary and I know she wore hijab and I would like to think a bit of her when I do this for myself
-No bad hair days to worry about!.
-People know that you're a Muslim
-No UV or sun damage
-Not call people's attention.
-People are aware of what I say not what I am wearing they have to look at me in the face to recall my face not my body
- Respect from Men and women in the street (IN the US because they think you are a weirdo) which is cool with me in countries like Turkey because now a days is becoming more rare.
-Something for my son to play with
many other reasons but I am working so i will be back later :)

every religion has rules; NO religion as people say is there to control people, this is the case with anything, there is society that has norms and forces it on people. there are many women and men who do things which they dont want but are coerced into because of the pressure of society, hence society has rules or laws that are somewhat binding.
However, religion are laws by God, and by pleasing God, You are gauranteed heaven and pleasure of God,
Instead of people who live their lives (they say they do things for themselves but a lot of time they do things because of pressure of friends etc. and believe me peer pressure is not just in school) trying to please others and theres no gaurantee that those people who you do things for will be loyal to you and appreciate you.
You do things for God, and THERE IS A gaurantee that God will be pleased with you and grant you paradise.
Hence, a female wearing a hijab is pleasing God.
ON THE OTHER PERSPECTIVE, every religion cherishes high moral values and instructs its followers in their own way to help safegaurd those values. In Islam, hijab is one of those ways. Hijab is not far fetched; you will see nuns in Christianity through whome you will see a sharp similarity to Muslim women wearing hijab.

ejab?no clue what it is...is it the head thing or the whole body cover?anyway i think its because men associate everything with sex.meaning if the women walk around with their hair down(long hair is acounted for as very sexy) then men are going to watch the women more and that is against religion in a way...

Here is what quran said:
24:31 And tell the believing women to lower their gaze and to be mindful of their chastity, and not to display their charms [in public] beyond what may [decently] be apparent thereof; hence, let them draw their head-coverings over their bosoms. And let them not display [more of] their charms to any but their husbands, or their fathers, or their husbands’ fathers, or their sons, or their husbands’ Sons, or their brothers, or their brothers’ sons, or their sisters’ sons, or their womenfolk, or those whom they rightfully possess, or such male attendants as are beyond all sexual desire, or children that are as yet unaware of women’s nakedness; and let them not swing their legs [in walking] so as to draw attention to their hidden charms And [always], O you believers - all of you - turn unto God in repentance, so that you might attain to a happy state!

why a woman has to cover her breats, but not the man? it's because men and women are phsycially, mentally and emotionally different.
men also has to cover. men have to cover what's between their belly to their knees. women have to cover all their body except their hands and face.
and it's really more about obeying God command, than to find the reason.
