I got my computer as a graduation present almost 4 years ago, its a HP Pavillion. Yesterday I bought a new computer game, but for some reason it doesn't run correctly. It skips, like what a cd does when its scratched. I thought maybe it was the game, so I returned it and got another one but it does the exact same thing. I know that it can't be the game because last year I bought a new game and it did the same thing, only not as bad because it only skipped on certain parts. With this new game, it screws up horribly. Is there some kind of software I need to buy for my computer to upgrade it? Could it be some kind of virus? I don't know much about computers, so any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Your computer is probably lacking in the graphics department. Try upgrading your graphics card. and memory. Also check the minimum requirements on the game you might not be-able to run that software at all.

No Virus doesn't act like that...
What are the requirements on the BOX of the game you purchased? Make sure minimum requirements are met in order to play that game.

Good luck.

Video Card, Processor Speed, RAM, Available HardDrive Space, etc. those are the things you should look at before buying any software or games.

A four year old computer is not going to have the processor speed, memory, or video capability to run today's newest games correctly. You need a newer/faster computer with better graphics cards.

It's possible that the computer doesn't have enough memory / processing power to run the game.
Look at the box and it should state the minimum requriements to lay the game, then right click on My Computer on your desktop and choose properties.
This will show what you computer has installed, see if you computer is powerful enough to run the game properly

I'm not a heavy gamer but I think it is either your CPU is too slow or your video card isn't good enough for games.
