Hyundai Accent GLS, $14,000+/-, best value
(4 speed automatic, manual locks and windows)

Yes, it's over $10K, but you'll save in the long run. Build-quality is competitive with Honda and Toyota, and Hyundai throws in a lot of perks that give you money or value back.

If you can snag a 2006, you might get a $1000 manufacturer's rebate. Our dealer even threw in a coupon book that will get us free oil changes for free or cash towards any maintenance done at any Hyundai dealer (I think...).

Peppy driving in urban/suburban setting. Decent ride for class. They say it's noisy, but compared to what? Lexus? Mercedes-Benz? Spacious trunk.

Warranties: great
*Powertrain: 10 years/100,000 mi
*Anti-perforation (rust from inside): 7 years/unlimited miles
*Roadside Assistance: 5 years/unlimited miles (includes towing including in accidents, vehicle lock-out, fueling assistance, flat tire assistance, battery jump starts)

JD Power 2006 survey ranks Hyundai 3rd best nameplate in initial quality (#1 Porsche, #2 Lexus). Accent's siblings are top or near-top in their classes (Elantra, Sonata, Azera, Tiburon).

On the downside:
--MPG: we're getting 25-26mpg (lower than advertised)
--Acceleration is wimpy - gotta start early on highway on-ramps

If you really want to stay under $10K, Chevy Aveo comes in a super economy model. Wait for --or push for-- the 0% financing.

Be more specific. Some of us can't read minds.
I'll assume you mean a new car.
Do a web search for "new cars under 10000"
Good luck
