There is a very fine line between being interested and being seen as too desparate. I think the usual time is 2 or 3 days and then its deemed "ok".

If its taking the guy a week to call you then he's not the guy you want to date. If a man is really interested in you he will call the following day.

I really think it's an ego stigma. Dating can be such a game. If it's taking him a week to call, well....move on. Not every guy is that way. Just the ones that like to play the typical game.

He makes her wait on purpose, so she won't be too sure of herself (sure of herself being very desirable to him).
He doesn't want her to know it, because if she did, then she could probably tie him around her little finger (get him to do whatever she wants him to do)... & he's trying to avoid that happening to him.

they try to squeeze the max out of lady and see if she is interested ... the moment the guy calls it means that he is interested and the lady can play games on her;)
