I don't think it should be banned from anywhere.. It's supposed to be a free country..

Your suggestion of everywhere leads people to think in all areas. For example, outside, car, hotels, homes, etc. But I think I know where your going with this...

No it shouldn't be banned from everywhere because to do so means we live in a dictatorship, which we don't. We are free to make our own choices. Banning it from most places okay. Hospitals, restaurants, schools, etc.

If you really think it should be banned then jump on the band wagon to try and put the tobacco companies out of business. Wouldn't closing those companies be the best way of banning smoking?

no it should not be banned, but there should be separate rooms for smokers so the non smokers are not exposed to the smoke. It is a matter of choice and respect for each others choices. What money would replace the the tax money on tobacco products for the government?
Also tobacco products shoud be kept in backl of the counter so the under age cannot get at them and the machines should be set where they can be watched at all times and the people must be educated on the harm smoking can do to their bodies.

Smoking should be banned from all public places. I don't go to restraunts to smell everyones smoke. It's not like it's going to kill people to stop smoking for an hour or so. You can use the argument that it's a free country...but what about the freedom to not to breathe in cigerette smoke when I go out to dinner. I love this country just as much as everyone else, but I think that Americans are just a bunch of spoiled people who take advantage of the constitution and the term "it's a free country".

Ban it from all public places. Yea sure, it's a free country, that means that I have just as much right not to have to smell your smoke as you have to produce it. If you want to smell like an ashtray doesn't mean I want to.

No country is entirely free, there are rules in place that is for the safety and operations of the country, you pay taxes, you drive a certain speed, those are for the benefit of the majority of the people and now the majority of people in the US now do not smoke.

Let be realistic people:

I think smoking should be banned ONLY at certain places, since second hand smoke is especially harmful to children I think only places like offices, hospitals and shopping malls should be smoke free.

In the future do we ban drinking alcohol because it causes car accidents, crashes and hit -and- run? Do we ban violence and crime in movies, adding salt, sugar or cholestrol levels in Cola drinks, burgers, fries by fast food companies because it causes diseases? Instead of insisting that every one should march to their tune, why don't non-smokers open and attend non-smoking restaurants, bars or cafes? I think it is the people who want to see some sort of smoking legislation that are being HYPOCRITICAL, selfish and not exercising their right to make a choice. If you can't stand the smoke go away! Stay home and dont ask smokers to smoke at home!

Many countries could not survive under current Taxation levels without smokers! Ban or reduce smoking by any means will make general taxation by the Government to the public even more due to loss of income. TAX REVENUE FROM TOBACOO COMPANIES ARE HIGHER THAN ANY INSURANCE OR HEALTH CARE BENEFITS PROVIDE BY HEALTH SYSTEM!!! Since the Government has no interest in protecting us from dangers like global warming, pollutions, pornography materials in TVs, sex and drug -related crime, religious fundamentalist and unhealthy fast food diet , what is your right to ban smokers totally!?

I quit smoking about 3 months ago but I still feel the same way. Smoking should not be banned. Many locations have seperate vent systems to allow a safer alternative to non smokers. Freedom isnt free but it is worth fighting for.

I am a smoker, have been for 15 years. I've tried everything I can to stop smoking but nothing seems to work. Maybe it's a matter of willpower...I don't know. But deep in my heart I truly wish that the government would just ban cigarettes. But we all know that's not gonna happen so I support banning cigarettes from all public sites.

I think smokers should be able to smoke anywhere outside. I understand not smoking inside due to 2nd hand smoke, but outside only hurts the smoker. Which I smoke only at night if I have a few drinks. I don't mind going outside to smoke. Non smokers should mind there own business and not hound us!!!

you know people- pretty soon if we keep this up everything will be banned-you canott dictate morality, and never will be able to. Just look at prohibition. If you want to make all smokers criminals ,maybe they start killing people to smoke, and not just themselves.

And then we could go after more dangerous things like cars, motorcycles, buses, airplanes. OR if you really want to ban something dangerous why not politicians, - I beleive that they are responsible for more deaths than anything else.

I don't smoke and I really hate smoking, but this is America and we ALL still have rights here. Even smokers. I love this country and believe in the constitution with all my heart. There is already too much legislation of what private citizens can and cannot do. while I do not permit smoking in my house or my car, I support the rights of anyone to do so if they wish.
