How do they know when your times up on downloaded trialware?

When you load a software program, an entry is made to your computer's registry.

This has an automatic kill date embedded in it and will block you from accessing the program past the date.

You can try uninstalling the program and then re-installing the trial, but, and this is a big but, uninstall normally does not change your registry. If you know how to remove the offending item from your registry, it would probably work. But I would never recommend fooling around with your registry unless you really know what you are doing as it could make your system totally inoperable.

You can try to change your computer's clock to reflect an earlier date to get around this, but Microsoft is wise to this deception and will abort the program anyway (if a MS program).

You should always read all the information on their webpage before you download any software. And what you read is not always true. Also you should check the "EULA", all the legal crap where it ask you to agree to their terms. Some top name companies lie and lie to you about what is really being installed without your knowledge. (The are not that many). Companies when you download and Microsoft says, "publisher unknown", and their valid signature is outof date there is a risk with these types of programs).

About your question. The program if you read the data on the webpage or if it did not say, will just stop working when the program clock built into the program stops. Could be 15 day evaluation or 30 day evaluation. For sure you will know as the program will cease to function and you will either get continued pop-ups asking you to purchase, or remove their program.

They imbed the date and time in the software you download. As you get close to the end of the trial, you will hear from them - over and over and over.
