I read an article wrote by an activist who has master of theology.
He says above thing, but I found no contents on Google.

Hm...I've never heard that before, but it is interesting if that was the origin. I think the difference now is that a university has higher than a bachelor's degree. Some colleges are 4 years and give no higher than a BS or BA. Universities however offer graduate programs. Some offer a masters degrees, others all the way up to Ph.D's. I'm pretty sure that's it.

I thought the difference was college is 2 years and university is 4. College is local, university is state.

Well depends where you live for one...

I went to University in England and studied at one of its many colleges, bear in mind that this University was founded way before your country.

I thought it was that a university has a lot of different schools (of technology, of liberal arts, of agriculture, of management, of engineering), and a college doesn't.
