I don't have time to cut and scoop out a fresh grapefruit every morning, so is canned or jarred grapfruit just as good for you?

It can be just as good if you choose canned fruit that is packed in 100% fruit juice. You should also look into frozen fruit as an option, as frozen fruit can be even more beneficial than fresh fruit if it is frozen at the time it was fresh.

I make protein smoothies everyday, and use canned fruit and frozen fruit.

Although it may not be AS good for you, it still has most of the benefits of fresh grapefruit. It is said to burn more calories by eating it than it contains. As an added benefit, my mom gave some to my daughter when she was constipated and it seemed to help.
