i met my boyfriend online ...we been together 6 years...i met some other cool people too. no weirdos either...you can avoid that by not rushing into things..it takes time getting to know the person you are interested in..whether online or face-to-face

and for some of the a-hole comments, i have no problem meeting people either, its opposite(our pic is on my yahoo ID) ..I wasn't even looking for someone..it just happened ...don't assume everyone who meets a mate online is a loser...thats ignorant
try chatting in chat rooms as opposed to dating services...you get to know people better by talking....i met 2 friends from Manchester and i live in OK!(bf was from NH,too) one of them got with my brother(he moved there) and they have a child now

It's no different than regular dating honestly. You still have to converse with and get to know the person. I've tried it before with ok results although I met my fiance in real life. Stay away from people who live too far from you and keep to people in your general area, about a 100 mile radius. Keep the initial date short and simple, like drinks or maybe a coffee date. If you hit it off you can always add in dinner and a movie or if things aren't working out you can just leave afterwards with no other obligations. This way if you're not feeling your date you can leave without having a huge bill to pay and no extensive travel costs. Good Luck!

Well, online dating is no different than regular dating. If you were to meet someone at a bar/club, you don't know if that person is genuine or a scam-artist any more than you do with online dating. However, with online dating, you need to spend a great deal more time writing or talking with eachother to determine if you have things in common, etc.

(Remember, it's not just about the profile pictures!)

I guess it's a safe alternative to actually getting out there and taking the risks of rejection and all. But the people I have known who have done the On line dating thing were so dishonest with the other person, like it was all a game...which I guess it is.

It works for some people and doesn't work for others. You have to do what works for you.

It works for some people although I really don't see the point if you're never gonna see each other.....if you see each other every once and a while or at least once I can kinda see it working maybe.

Well it's how I met my current boyfriend and it has worked out just fine for me. There are alot of "strange" people out there so you must be careful and very picky. Good luck!
