RSVP is abrrev for the French expression -
R - repondez (reply/respond)
S - s'il (if)
V - vous (you)
P - plait (please)
Reply (if you) please.
Yes when u send invitation & under RSVP heading u give ur contact number it means please reply whether u r coming or not (invitation accepted or not) so that u may make arrangements accordingly.
