Good Question. An even better one would be why on earth would any half way intelligent person even think that the bible is the word of god? It was written by men, quoting men and telling tales that were told by men. Anything man made is flawed by its very nature.
Ever heard of the game telegram? People sit in a circle and whisper a phrase to the person next to them. By the time it gets to the end it bears no resemblence to the original words.
Another way to expalin it: have you ever learned or tried to learn a foreign language? There are many words and expressions that simply do not translate! There is no way to say certain things in every language. There is not a literal translation for everything you want to say. You must pick the words that come close to what you are trying to say or the words that you feel convey the gist of what you want to express.
Do you have any idea how many times the bible has been translated? Many well educated people will doubt the validity of a document that has been translated even once, let alone over and over and over again! No scientist worth the name would accept information that had been translated from one language to another. It is ridiculous for people to go around quoting things that they read in the bible and expecting anyone to think that they bear and veracity.
The most that anyone can claim to get from the bible is general idea of what people were trying to say. Who is to say that any of it was true to begin with?
It all boils down to a matter of faith. If it makes you happy to have faith in a document such as the bible then that is fine.
I for one prefer to believe in what I know, what I can touch and what I can see. I seek to find "the divine in nature and nature in the divine". It has worked for me for many years now.
I am a witch and very proud of that fact. My religion serves me in every way. It enables me to help other people. It has taught me how to heal and how to enrich my life immeasurable.
If you find a good reason to believe that the bible is the word of god, write to me and share your source. I would love to hear it.
Blessed Be

In its current state, if it contains stories of Jesus, those specific words CANNOT be words of God. However, other parts that are direct orders to Jesus are still His words.
because:
1. God sent the Bible with Jesus, not with anyone else. If a book contains the history of Jesus after he was gone, then it is logically written by someone else, and not really inspired by God to Jesus.
2. The Quran, which is a book thats not even related to the Christians in the Arabian Peninsula, explicitly says, that the Bible was God sent.
Now all you have to do , is figure out which bits were written by other men and added to the Bible later, and which bits are actually still the same as the day they were revealed to Jesus.
Peace

The Holy Bible is the inspired word of God. The Lord gave Moses the Ten Commandents and the first books of the bible.
16All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
2 Timothy 3:16-17
12We have not received the spirit of the world but the Spirit who is from God, that we may understand what God has freely given us. 13This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, expressing spiritual truths in spiritual words. 1 Corinthians 2:12-13
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. John 1:1
Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.
Proverbs 30:5
But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. Matthew 4:4

The Simple answer is NO.
The detailed answer is as follows:
The many bibles that are present today are NOT the word of God. These are translations of translations of translations of account of Jesus compiled by his different apostles. These accounts were subjected to alterations including addition, removal, and erronous translations from one to other and then that other to still others. Christanity was not another religion but was a part of judaism during the life of jesus. This practise continued until St. Paul who was a very harsh jewish critic of jesus' teachings apparently converted to jesus' faith. He was so notorious considered by jesus apostles that initially he was refused their company. eventually he made his way among the apostles and began his plan. Jesus' teachings were for jewish followers only. Paul approached pagans to convert to christanity. However pagans had their own set of mind hence the ambigous, faulty and unexplainable "trinity" was introduced in the jesus' teachings. This was the start of a new faith, completely different from what jesus had preeched. Trinity was inducted into christanity because pagans had strong beliefs relating to 3 supreme dieties and it would be easy for them to convert to a new religion if that had some sort of resemblance with their previous beliefs. Instead of molding the lifestyles of the believers into their new faith, the faith was molded (by altering bible) to accomodate the pagan and some jewish practices (that were forbayed in the original bible for jews in the life of jesus). Once the alteration started there was no ending. The rest, as they say, is history.

Faith is a gift of God. It comes from hearing and hearing a True Word about Christ / God.
Spirit filled Messianic Jews as the foundation of the Faith. Christ is the foundation. They discerned what books were of God. Test the prophets to see if they heard from the True God. The bible has been tried & found true.
The Catholic Cannon has apocryphal books in it that the Cathlic leadership know are apocryphal but still think they can be edifying in some way.
To me I book the apocryphal books, Mormon book & Koran as antichrist and false doctrine. I have tested those books and found them contrare to women, contrare to God's Salvation (eternal life through Jesus redeeming blood) message by Grace (gift of God) and not by Works.
Of course, God has given me the Spirit of Truth and who leads me into all truth. Let's me know if teaching is of man. The Spirit of Truth never lies (2 John). There are certain tests to be done, and they are written in the bible. A prophet hears from spirits. Test the spirits and see if they come from God. Do they deny Jesus Christ LORD, the Son of God, atonement & resurrection? If so, they are spirits of antichrist.
Agnostic gospels deny Jesus Diety also, so are of an antichrist spirit.
Paul was and is a born again spiritfilled Messianic Jew in heaven at the right hand of Jesus.
How can you know the bible is the Word of God? Hear a true Word about Christ / God. Faith comes by hearing & hearing. Have faith in Jesus Christ as your Lord. Receive the Spirit of Truth in your life. Simple as that.
Also a good test for the bible is to purchase a "Strong's Exhaustive" of the King James version. It is a dictionary of bible words going back to the oldest version in Hebrew + Old Testament, and Greek New Testament. You will find that the today bibles are well transcribed. But are easier for different people to read according to learning and language.
When I first came back to Christ, People confused me who came to my door and preached to me. What stuck in my mind were biblical verses they gave, and to excuse what they thought was right. So I did. I purchased a Strongs that revealed to me the Truth & meaning of those verses. Because the bible doesn't contradict like so many say it does. I went into a full bible study in my own home. I have read the whole bible.
Not to forget Elijah that was found in the dead sea scrolls, it is the same message in our Elijah transcriptions today.

This might take greater than yahoo for me to give an explanation for. I'll begin with the truth that wherein it says phrase it will have to truthfully say plan. It is the Greek phrase emblems which means "whatever mentioned adding the ideas" through implication "a subject matter or area of discourse" additionally "reasoning with the intellectual schools and purpose" It is translated from the Hebrew phrase dabar this means that the discovered will of YHWH, the plan and cause for mankind. This in line with Thayers Lexicon and The Interpreters Dictionary of The Bible. Proper names incorporated it could be within the guide of Yahchanan ben Zabdyah (the ones names truthfully have which means not like john) bankruptcy a million verses a million-four In the beggining used to be the plan of Yahweh, and the plan used to be with Yahweh, and the plan used to be Yahweh's. The equal used to be within the beggining with Yahweh. All matters had been performed in line with it and with out it not anything used to be performed that used to be performed. In this plan used to be existence and that existence used to be the sunshine to mankind. Also, safely placed verse 14 says "According to this plan flesh used to be created; and residing amongst us, and we beholding his glory the consideration of the begotten son of the one Father, stuffed with honor and reality. edit: Where Terry says Collossians a million:sixteen the phrase via is truthfully to mention "as a result of him" As to his rant approximately Revelations three:14, sure it says first. What he did not inform you is that many resources say that the phrase perfected is disregarded. So it safely says ..."the primary perfected of Yahweh.", this means that he used to be the primary guy to be ideal, now not he wass there within the beggining with Yahweh and His plan.

The epistle of 1st John addressed the heresy of the gnostic gospel, which is the 1st century revelation of the anti-christ.
http://www.bible-researcher.com is a very good site for biblical sources and canons as well as translations and Inerrancy qualifications.

Read the Bible from cover to cover. Old and new testaments. There is no possible way that all these people thru all these years could put together a book with as many prophecies that match up so closely without the divine intervention of God.

16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.
