The first thing that occurs to me when I'm faced with a quit or persevere question is how much does this really mean to me. My website is frustrating and boring in turns, but I don't give up because I know it's something I want to do, something I take pride in. The second is whether I can live with myself if I don't do it. Taking a new job in another state vs. staying in the old one. I don't really know what makes me choose what I do, I just try not to make any decisions that I'll regret later.

It depends upon how you feel about rewards, if you quit and have to stop striving the relief is instantaneous and quite reinforcing, If you can develop the imagination to accept that rewards might come in the future as the result of efforts that you make now you are more likely to persevere.

I want to quit when I get tired, but it's my children that make me strive. They are every breath I take.

Goals that I set for myself make me strive. I seldom quit that's because if I do something it is because I want to do them, and if I do them because someone else has told me to do them, I want to give them my very best, although sometimes giving it all means quiting.

When I feel like throwing in the towel, when I feel like telling people to shove their jobs I'd be better off on the dole or stopping family members from interfering in matters that don't concern them, I just smile to myself and think of my beautiful 2 year old son, who makes my life worth while. I think of his wee face everytime I feel defeated and within minutes I feel better and more able to face the world.

If I'm tired I'm much more likely to quit. Also it depends how badly I want something and what benefits I will get out of it.

I turned half the house upside down this morning looking for a tape adaptor for my husband. Cos it was for him and his new toy i was determined to find it. I quit when he told me it wasn't that important he'd buy another. grrr!!!!
