"The Raffinan kennel sells CKC registered puppies"

STAY AWAY UNLESS THAT IS THE Canadian Kennel Club. The "Continental Kennel CLub" is a sham and a fraud and not recognized by any legitimate breed and show organization.

To find a show prospect, start here:

http://www.americanpomeranianclub.org/index.htm

That is the national breed club recognized and accredited by the AKC.

They use a Breeder Referral Contact and Committee

http://www.americanpomeranianclub.org/index.htm

A breeders list:

http://www.americanpomeranianclub.org/member_roster.htm

Here are the ones on their list in FL

http://www.americanpomeranianclub.org/states/florida.htm

Now, if you are looking for a show prospect, which type do you want? Obedience/Agility (quite the little stars) or Conformation? If you get really lucky, you get one that can win at both.

A very good way to have a top quality show prospect is as a co-own with the breeder -in fact, if the dog is really a conformation show prospect, most breeders insist upon this so they will have some say over the dog's show and breeding career. (They give the advice, do the showing in the ring or teach you to do it and the dog lives with you and you pay the regular and show bills - unless you all agree that the show costs are split up.)

A co-own works very very well for show dogs. It is so normal that a dog competing in breed is practiclly expected to be a so-own with the breeder or it is viewed a hmmm...if he were really that good, why did the breeder not stay on his registration???

Talk to the breeders - you need to be comfortable with them as well as the quality of dogs they are producing.

Given the incidence of patella problems in these little guys, you may want to consider an older puppy who is at an age where the knees can be given a preliminary xray - maybe 6-9 months who the breeder has held back as a show prospect for themselves. 47.8% flunk the OFA certification as abnormal and those are the dogs whose xray looked like maybe they will pass and not the ones whose xrays were so bad, it was "don't even bother sending them."

GOOD LUCK! And see you at Westminster!

Go on the AKC website and contact the Pomeranian club to get a list of Florida Breeders. You can also see where local shows are and go meet some Pom breeders there and talk with them about your interest. Meeting the breeders at a show and seeing the stock is a great way to get your foot in the door.

Talk to your vet and ask them for the contact for the local Kennel Club. The vet may also have a client that is a show breeder of Pom's.
Akc has an online classified listing for breeders with puppies.
Do a search for Pom Club of America.
http://www.americanpomeranianclub.org/
there it is. They can steer you to the regional club that covers your area and they also maintain a breeder list.

If you buy a CKC registered puppy, it will not be show quality or be able to be shown since it is not AKC registered. CKC I think is working on some really lame shows, but they are few and far between!!!

I was killing a few moments by having a look to see if I could find some Florida breeders websites for you ... oh dear, but check out the first link ... they dress the little Pom babies up before taking their photos! Not really ever seen anything like that! So, they're probably good for a giggle but may not be quite the sort of breeder that you want if you're looking for one to show.

The Raffinan kennel sells CKC registered puppies.

The third link is the breeders.net - there seem to be adverts there from breeders who breed from Champion lines & puppies seem to be AKC or CKC registered. Probably more the sort of puppy you're looking for.

Good luck in your search.
