It is a question that I often wonder as I am holding the little blighter in my hand, poised between the crisp bag and my mouth. Does anyone else wonder this? If on the odd occasion, I think it will be okay and pop one into my mouth and much away, I always seem to proceed on to having a bit of a dodgy tummy. Not sure if this is from worrying about the green crisp or if it actually is the green crisp!

If anyone can shed any light on if it is okay to eat green crisps or not, I'd be eternally grateful!

I also have some reservations of eating black crisps, although the green ones are always the ones that play on my mind!

green crisps are from green potatoes, which have been out in the sun too long, green potatoes are poisonous, so I would presume some of the poison although small might be in the crisp, It might not do much harm but it won't do any good.I certainly wouldn't eat a black crisp, either the potato was rotten, frost damaged, or just plain burnt, If in doubt through it out, that's my advice, you can't take chances.

It won't kill you, but it's certainly not healthy.

The green stuff is indicative of possible poison, more or less. No, really.

(The brown, I believe, is indicative of higher sugar content in the potato.)

I'd go in search of a better quality crisp. The more expensive a bag, I find, the less likely I am to run into those dreadful green ones. It always makes me wonder how much the factory missed/ignored/etc that I have no way of seeing...

I wouldn't eat a black one or a green one. You might get sick. I had a crisp with a little bit of green in it once and it was okay but to be completely green, might make you turn green (and vomit!). EW.

I defo think it wil be the worry of wot could happen that placebos your stomach into thinking the crisp will turn tummy bad!!

Its actually impossible for a green crisp to be "off" , as potatoes are only green when they underipe, when theyre off, they turn to mush, so as the potato is UNDERRIPE, U will be as right as rain!! If you stiil have the crisp then you can pop it in your mouth about..............NOW!

Potatoes, when they are over ripe, begin to turn green. A fried green crisp will probably not hurt you, but since they are a member of the nightshade family, its best to not eat any part of the plant that is green. See link below please.
