I don't trust a book written a month ago if it doesn't have any reliable support or secondary verification, so why would I trust a book written 2000 years ago period, especially in light of the fact that not one reputable historian of the time recorded Yshua ben Ysef as having been risen from the dead, or even having been more than a teacher?
Why should I trust a book that contains something claiming to be the messiah when its own text shows that he failed to meet the requirements?
Kinda defeats the purpose of trusting a book when it can't even trust itself.

While the Law was given through Moses, grace ( unearned, undeserved favor and spiritual blessing) and truth came through Jesus Christ. -AMP John 1:17
We must consider what blinders are put upon a reprobate mind. The darkness is embraced as light.
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
Romans 12:1,2

People will believe basically anything today, they listen to talk shows, watch soap operas, listen to people without much wisdom, but God forbid if they would actually believe the word of God, that's a foreign concept to them.
The truth shines on the darkness and people will run and hide, it's biblical.

I never said I would believe another book written long ago. I believe the facts and findings they have discovered over the last few decades...recent stuff that can actually be PROVEN versus a book that has been translated, revised, and rewritten more times than actually known.

Which book would that be? The Illiad? Bede? Be a little more specific.
and the answer of course is we believe in proportion to the evidence of any claims made.
