God had already made a covenant promise concerning Issac, that from Abraham's seed would come many nations. This was to be fulfilled through Issac, Abraham's son, God had told Abraham the promise would be fulfilled through him. God tested Abraham's trust in Him, to sacrifice his son. Abraham obeyed God, trusting that God could raise Issac, for the promise was to be fulfilled through him.
This whole thing is also a picture of a father giving of himself, his son for a sacrifice. God Himself provided the sacrifice, pictured here, and in Jesus.

I am not Jewish. I am a born again christian. I know why. Becayuse the Lord was testing Abraham and there was a spiritual side to it as well, because the bible, is very spiritual. That's the way God wrote it to be. Abraham was a representative of God in a sense. God sacrifice his son Jesus to die o the cross for sinners,. Abraham was going to sacrifice his son. The Jewish people are not a good biblical source. They do not believe a lot of the things the Lord is teaching in the bible. They don't even believe there was a messiah that came to Jerusalem and died on the cross. They are still waiting for their own messiah, but that will never happen. Never! The Messiah has come and gone and will return again, but not for any particular race, but for the ones he dies for on the cross. They are still living in the pass with the ceremonies and the bible teaches that there is no more reason for any ceremonies,. but they don't believe it.

The word of God is for it. Issac is innocent yes, but the attempted sacrifice was used to show Abraham's faith. Jesus as a sacrifice is perfect, and He is from heaven. It is neccessary to have the son of God take away our sins because we have offended God.

The reason why God told him to stop bc it was a test he never intended on Abraham killing his son. God just wanted to see how much Arbraham trusted God. I believe in God

It was indeed a test of faith and believe.

If your religion is true and good, no God would have asked your son to be sacrificed or killed, to put it crudely. If you have faith in God, you would take things in your stride and true enough, Abraham or Ibrahim as the Muslims know the prophet, had faith and loved God.

God gave Abraham a test for his faith. Faith in God. He told Abraham to sacrifice his son, Ishmael. So, Abraham has to do this task to show his faith to God. Abraham told his son, Ishmael that he is going to sacrifice him. Ishmael did so willingly. So, Abraham brought Ishmael to an altar chosen by God to sacrifice him. Just as Abraham was going to sacrifice Ishmael, God halted him, telling him to sacrifice a goat instead. Thus, his test of faith is complete.

God says in the Quran:

037.102
YUSUFALI: Then, when (the son) reached (the age of) (serious) work with him, he said: "O my son! I see in vision that I offer thee in sacrifice: Now see what is thy view!" (The son) said: "O my father! Do as thou art commanded: thou will find me, if Allah so wills one practising Patience and Constancy!"

037.103
YUSUFALI: So when they had both submitted their wills (to Allah), and he had laid him prostrate on his forehead (for sacrifice),

037.104
YUSUFALI: We called out to him "O Abraham!

037.105
YUSUFALI: "Thou hast already fulfilled the vision!" - thus indeed do We reward those who do right.

037.106
YUSUFALI: For this was obviously a trial-

037.107
YUSUFALI: And We ransomed him with a momentous sacrifice:

----------

The concept of human sacrifice was predominant back in Abrahams time and was not supported by God at all. This is why sacrificing his son was such a hard thing for Abraham because he thought he was to do this for real after having a vision of it.

However, the sacrificing of humans was never intended by God. It was always a barbaric, and pagan ritual.

It was a test of Abraham's faith. Imagine God told you to sacrifice your son to Him. Wouldn't this be one of the ultimate tests of your faith?

no brother, you are playing with the facts.

he did it so to test him. to see how much he will obey God. because Abraham will be the father of the prophets. and no human need to die so God can forgive to man kinds. everyone is respnsible for his sins and his deeds. and bad people are not equal to good people.
take care.

Because the sacrifice was atest of his faith and never meant for finalization indeath. issac is the son of abraham that god wanted to set up his convenant with after abraham died. this also showed god not to give up on us and reaffirmed to himself to go ahead with sending Jesus as their messiah andOur Saviour. to redeem us from our bondage to sin. Issac was the son of promise and convenant. therefore god said because you refused not to hold your son from me I will not withhold my love and Son from you.
