I've been looking into funding for PGCE courses, and it looks like the rate is exactly the same for the whole country. Do you not get any extra in London?

I don't know, but don't do it as there are no jobs a the end of it. Check out the unemployed teachers forum on the TES website. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but if I had realised just how many teachers are unemployed or working outside of the classroom I would have stuck to something else for a few years longer. much as I love teaching.
