Super humans naturally. Because, on exinction, the human genes will find a place in some carrier which will act as a host. And the new chain of an evolution will start to take place,in the course the species born will become the super humans, which will have the brain working in the speed of a coumputer, which will be having a lot of resistance power to the external attacks, and shall be physically well build and more powerful and will have a life span of more than a 1000 years.

I think the large cats around the world would. Such as Lions, Tigers, Cheetahs, and Leopards in Africa, and Panthers and Mountain Lions (Cougars) in North America. Maybe the bears would have a high role too. They're soo furry and loveable!!! Either way, humans getting wiped off the earth would probably be a benefit for nature on planet Earth!

Survival on earth and being the dominant form are two different things.Insects, particularly cockroaches might survive. But this does not mean they will take over man's role.Man's role can be taken over by a terrestrial animal or a aerial animal. But this animal must either match or come near the human intelligence and diligence. In this respect chimpanzee comes next.

Well, the only things that would remain are bacteria that can survive extreme conditions.

Something that could cause extinction of humans would most certainly destroy every other species.

So, its u'r imagination what the bacteria might evolve into to take the place of humans.

In terms of sheer survival, I'll vote with the others for the cockroach.....but it's supposed to be the "meek" who shall inherit the earth....

Don't know if they're going to evolve to even the level of a Bush Republican (ducks brickbats-----sorry, couldn't resist....ok, didn't want to resist).... but they are notably tough in a lot of conditions, and any critter that's been around for THAT long definitely has a decent adaptation....
