All the evidence seems to point out that we are indeed going to hell in handcart, with our heads buried the sand...

However, many believe that - due to the exponential nature of technological expansion, and the any-time-now emergence of nanotechnology and bioengineering - a miracle is just around the corner. This explosive moment is often referred to as 'the singularity'...

Of course, both viewpoints are pure fantasy. It's in the nature of the human ego to suppose that the times we are living in are either the end times, or in some other way the most important ones. More likely is that we will stagger on as a civilization for quite some time yet, with nothing so spectacular as time travel or mass (human) extinction even remotely on the horizon.

However, Tony Blair is still the divil.

I agree with Wreynor.
Culture is going to the dogs, kindness is a weakness and bitchery is good and seen as a strenght, it's just not right. The way things are going it won't be too long before humanity destroys everything and finally shrivels up and dies itself. We've only been on the planet for a humminbird's flap and we'll be gone just as quick. Thing is nobody seems to do anything other than complain about it. Most of us don't want to give up our expensive food and clothes and cars for one and when taxes are enforced we complain even more. Something's got to give and our greedy butts will make sure everything else is gone before we go.
Is humanity going to hell? We're already there.

none of the problems you've mentiioned are new. Humanity has found ways to work around those difficulties. some of the solutions have worked very well, and others not so well. One of my biggest concern however has been the levels of incivility that seems to be increasing every year. Courtesy and respect for one another seems to be regarded as a weakness and hostility and contempt are taken as strengths. Illiteracy is the result of "big powrs who hate us" rather than laziness. Millions upon millions demand something for nothing cause they're "owed". I believe our culture is dying and that humanity as we now know it may not last long.
