I don't care about Pace - I just want to finish and hopefully not have to walk the whole way. Any advice on how I should train for this?

I'd agree with Bman's assessment. It depends upon your current level of fitness.

I'd probably think you could partially run it / walk it by that time. You may want to set your sights on a 5K, if you want to run at least somewhat competitively. The 10K is a bit challenging ... 6.2 miles.

If you slowly start building up to that distance, now, I think you should be able to do the distance (even if you have to walk part of it, which isn't bad).

Here is another plan to get you at least started running:

Good luck.

Yes it is possible. First thing to consider is do you want to run the whole distance or would running 1km and walking 200m be OK for you - that way it is even easier But pretty much go out and run, run 2 days and rest a day. Aim to run each time for 30 minutes and this can be to run a few laps, stop for a rest and a drink and then run some more. Over the weeks try to add more laps before you stop for a break. Keep a nice even pace as you go - no racing - and you should be able to go further/ But yes, you can do it

It really depends on you and your athletic ability. Since I don't know your fitness level, your best bet is to head over to coolrunning.com. Here is the link to the 10K training page.

This should be able to help you. Good Luck and don't try to do much to soon as you could seriously injure yourself

p.s Use the link from mchenryed. It is better for newer runners.
