They don't always skip a generation. The fact is that if you are a twin, it increases the chance of you having twins. It is a genetic thing. The female is the one that determines if she will have twins (genetically speaking). It is her that either releases 2 eggs or has one egg that splits into 2 zygotes.

Twins can have twins. I have seen several of my friends (male twins and female twins) have twins. It is not uncommon.
Over 80% of all pregnancies start out as a twin pregnancy. But only about 15% will actually see a twin birth.

Twins can have twins. In fact, they are more likely to have twins since they have a "family history". The "skip a generation" mentality is inaccurate.

Have you been told all your life that twins cannot have twins without ever being told why not? An assertion that it skips a generation is not an answer to the question, "why not?" It is merely another assertion. What your friend says about her mother is at least verifiable as fact if it's true.

yes; my grandmother was a twin; her twin sister had twins; on my grandmother's side 2 generations were skipped and I had twins; by the way, my other grandmother was a twin also, but there are no other twins on that side of my family;

Twins USUALLY skip a generation, but that is not to say that it ALWAYS happens.
