Just a couple-few weeks. The cat will meow very loudly and purr a lot. It will be very loving and try like crap to get outside. You will have to be very careful around the door. Also know that other male cats will be coming around. They can smell your cat even though its inside. They may try to get in too. Lots of meowing. I would take her to be fixed as soon as she is out of heat. It will save you some grief and plus if you arent breading show cats or something then control the cat population. There are many places that offer free or very cheap spay and neuter services. Too many cats without a good home for there to be cats running around unfixed. Good luck!

First she starts rubbing on you and anything else and talking more, then trying to get out the door. Then the calling begins to attract Toms and announce to the world that she wants to be a mother. This may last from 1-4 weeks depending on the time of year, age, breed, and general health. Believe me, when you get through this you'll want to have her spayed. She may come back in heat almost immediately if not bred. Her back will be extremely sensitive and she may flip over and scratch and bite during this time so use caution.

It like a woman's menstrual cycle. Your cat will bleed like a human for about a week. This is the time that cats can get pregnant. She will be mewing of "howling" trying to call a mate, rub herself along the floor and things like that.
Please look into getting her spayed. The SPCA or Humane Society will be able to tell you where you can get it done free or at a reduced cost.
