To Jeremy: Thanks for mentioning the passage, and here it is:
Exodus 32:25 Moses saw that the people were running wild and that Aaron had let them get out of control and so become a laughingstock to their enemies. 26 So he stood at the entrance to the camp and said, ""Whoever is for the LORD, come to me."" And all the Levites rallied to him. 27 Then he said to them, ""This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: 'Each man strap a sword to his side. Go back and forth through the camp from one end to the other, each killing his brother and friend and neighbor.' """

And here is the passage which reveals that Aaron had built the gold calf:
Exodus 32:1When the people saw that Moses was so long in coming down from the mountain, they gathered around Aaron and said, "Come, make us gods who will go before us. As for this fellow Moses who brought us up out of Egypt, we don't know what has happened to him."
2 Aaron answered them, "Take off the gold earrings that your wives, your sons and your daughters are wearing, and bring them to me." 3 So all the people took off their earrings and brought them to Aaron. 4 He took what they handed him and made it into an idol cast in the shape of a calf, fashioning it with a tool. Then they said, "These are your gods, O Israel, who brought you up out of Egypt." 5 When Aaron saw this, he built an altar in front of the calf and announced, "Tomorrow there will be a festival to the LORD."

According to the Bible, yes he did. The Levites, the priestly tribe, were instructed to punish the people. You can read about it in Exodus 32, from verse 25.
As far as Catholic churches are concerned, these are representations of saints, rather than God himself, so I don't think Moses would order another slaughter. There's only one true image of God, and that's us! (see Genesis 1:27) God made people in his image, so that when people want to worship him, they serve other each other, rather than giving gifts to some statue.

NO Moses did not order any killings, & it would not make a difference what Moses will think about all these Idols in the Catholic Church, It is what God thinks & will do one day soon.

Well I'm not quite sure that these statues are worshipped instead of god, as in the case of the golden calf , but you never know with someone associated to a god who creates absolute rules regarding murder, then shortly afterwards orders a massacre of 3000 people...

As a Jew, I am guessing Moses wouldn't be frequenting Catholic Churches, but if he had, he would learn that Catholics do not pray to or worship the statues or figurines. These items do represent people who have displayed qualities and lives worthy of respect and offer example of proven, achievable holiness.

it's all mythology anyways....
hard to say what Moses would do since he was a figurative person, all the names of the story have Kemetic double meanings that mirrored Egyptology, not to mention Moses is a non-Hebrew name, neither is Arun, but rather the identical imagery of thier former 'captives' meant to teach others a lesson based on storytime
how ironic is that, a guy with the name of 'reed' parts the Reed Sea? it is indeed a teaching tool but not a bio or factual event

I believe Moses ground up the idol and made the Israelites eat it. A statue is one thing... bowing down to worship it is another.

Yes. This happened after As-Samiri - not Aaron (Prophet Haron) - had the gold calf made.

I think he "lost it" when he heard the noise and saw the dancing. (Threw down those Ten Commandments, too.) So, I'm really fearful of what God thinks when he sees a lot of our "churches" today. I'm afraid a lot of times we're really worshipping ourselves. What're we gonna do?
