Does anyone know if the force of the Valujet crash caused the entire plane to be totally enveloped in the silt of the Everglades? I wonder if the crash had an accordion effect but left whole or was the plane pulled out in pieces?

To quote the NTSB report

" The majority of the wreckage was recovered by hand and placed on airboats"
"The airplane structure was severely fragmented"

Basically there was nothing identifiable and the people inside would have been pulp, as happens in all high speed impacts like this.

The report can be found on the NTSB website at http://www.ntsb.gov/publictn/a_Acc2.htm third one down on the list.

Hope this helps

It was obliterated on impact there was not very many pieces over a few feet long it was deep in the silt as well. the crash site was very small indicating almost straight down impact.
