As you have done the work yourself, you sign the work in your own name. That is all that is required of the signature aspect of the piece. The technical aspect of attributing influence or siting original work comes in the form of the "Artists Statement", which is typically a brief (anywhere from a 1 or 2 paragraph excerpt to a full 1 to 2 pages) that the artist uses to explain the influence, color choice, brush technique, period considerations, motivation for piece etc. It can be long and descriptive or short and concise.

But specifically the signature is your own as you did the work. This has been debated for years, but artistic license states that you don't even need to sign the piece at all if you choose.

Typically original works are stamped on the edge of the painting (which is hidden by a frame) and matches a database entry at art clearinghouses and museums.

If the work is unquestionably yours, e.g. you did all the underpainting, all the brush work, all the color mixing, etc., then you sign your own name. It would be appropriate to acknowledge the original artist in the title of the work and in an artist's statement if you ever display the work. However, if the original is out of copyright, some artists don't even acknowledge the original work; in postmodern art theory, this is referred to as "appropriation" and is considered a valid artistic choice.

You sign the name of the original artist... then sign.."by your name". Or the name of the artist..then "as done by your name."
